I have seen this before and not fallen for it. What I have NEARLY fallen for is my own anti-virus protector sending something similar saying if you don't pay x 'it' will be cancelled. I got my credit card out thinking 'it' was renewal of my protection but on closer inspection 'it' was a special offer for an upgrade that I didn't need or want. What made me 'nearly' fall for it:- 1. fear of what will happen if my computer doesn't have anti-viral protection 2. trying to keep to my schedule for the day and not get distracted as things pop in to my inbox (lesson, close your Outlook down for a few hours!) 3. they make it so easy to buy. My credit card is handy and a few seconds of typing my details in COULD mean I'm free from fear and free to get on with my schedule for the day! As you say, if it sounds to good to be true it probably is, plus I don't react well to any type of emotional blackmail. A quick Google search on the first few lines will usually bring up references on sites such as snopes.com, which quickly dispel these hoaxes and urban myths. A good heads up for those less tech-savvy (and some of those that are!), thank you.
